I designed a fully responsive microlearning course using Articulate Rise 360, tailored for Canadian truck drivers to complete their pre-trip inspections on the go.

The course is accessible on any device, offering flexibility for busy drivers.

Through interactive knowledge checks, multiple-choice questions, and scenario-based learning, participants engage with real-world applications that reinforce road safety, compliance, and professionalism.

This course empowers drivers to prevent costly repairs and breakdowns while contributing to overall road safety.

The Process

To create an impactful Pre-trip Inspection course, I collaborated closely with a member of the Risk Department at an international trucking company, our subject matter expert (SME), to identify key safety concerns and areas where drivers often needed reinforcement. The SME highlighted the importance of equipping drivers with practical knowledge to ensure thorough, consistent inspections across diverse routes and conditions.

Given the mobile nature of the drivers’ work, we prioritized accessibility by designing the course in Articulate Rise. This approach allowed the course to be fully responsive, enabling drivers to access it seamlessly on any device, whether in the cab, at home, or in a terminal.

To measure the course’s effectiveness, we established metrics based on compliance with inspection protocols and incident reduction rates post-training.

With these elements defined, I created a Design Document and Style Guide for the SME’s review. Upon approval, I proceeded with storyboarding and wireframing, setting up a structure that was both practical and engaging for drivers.
